Project Management Training Supports Effective Nonprofits

Integral to maintaining excellence at nonprofit organizations, Applied Materials provided project management training support for more than 30 local nonprofits.

Successful companies rely on employees who can effectively manage programs and see goals through completion. Nonprofits are no different, relying on staff to plan, implement and evaluate projects that benefit local communities.

This summer, Applied Materials Austin hosted a comprehensive project management training program for more than 30 local nonprofits. Partnering with Mission Capital (formerly Greenlights for Non-Profit Success), the one-day workshop, “Advancement Academy: Project Management for Nonprofits”, focused on how to plan projects and break-down each plan step into smaller, more manageable activities that can easily be tracked and timed. The local nonprofit representatives who attended are current or former grantees of the Applied Materials Foundation.

Now in its fifth year, Advancement Academies have covered a variety of critical topics such as creating strong boards, exploring strategic alliances and developing leadership. Read about past Advancement Academy trainings

The feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive. In a competitive funding environment, nonprofits must be as effective as possible in pursuit of their mission. Project management training is integral in maintaining excellence.

“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to sharpen our skills. Our staff returned from the Advancement Academy with new tools and motivation to improve their work. For all you do to make our community stronger I am deeply grateful,” said Jo Kathryn Quinn the executive director of Caritas of Austin, a long-time Academy participant.
