Applied Materials launched its new Applied Baccini® Pegaso™ solar cell manufacturing platform today. The Pegaso system represents the new state of the art in solar cell manufacturing and will help to drive the solar industry into the future.But that’s not why I’m posting this video. I’m posting it because the Pegaso system is one of the most elegant pieces of machinery I’ve ever seen.

Applied Materials Supports IIT Bombay and the National Center for PV Research and Education

Recognizing the need for research and development as well as education and training for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) in India to be successful, the ministry of New and Renewable Energy created the "National Center for Photovoltaic (PV) Research and Education" (NCPRE) at the IIT Bombay campus. Professor Devang V. Khakhar, Director at IIT Bombay formed an advisory committee comprising of eminent members from both academia and industry, to oversee the center’s direction. Dr. Madhusudan Atre, president of Applied Materials in India was recently appointed as a member of this prestigious committee.
