Applied Materials, Inc. was recognized as the largest supplier of photovoltaic (PV) solar manufacturing equipment in 2011 by VLSIresearch, a market research firm located in Santa Clara, Calif. This is the fourth consecutive year that Applied has been ranked number one in revenue in the PV solar market, and fiscal 2011 represented its third year of achieving more than $1 billion in sales in this market.*As the market leader in PV manufacturing equipment, Applied currently supports over 1,800 solar manufacturing systems including screen printing, precision wafering, ion implantation and thin film deposition equipment at more than 200 customer sites worldwide through its Applied Global Services division. Clean Energy Ministerial: 24 Nations Endorse 11 New Worldwide Initiatives

The first-ever Clean Energy Ministerial brought together ministers and stakeholders from 24 nations in Washington, D.C., last week to collaborate on policies and programs that accelerate the world's transition to clean energy technologies. Participants included executives from top global companies – including Charlie Gay of Applied Materials. Charlie, who is president of Applied's solar business, was a panelist at an event that occurred on the first day of the two-day Ministerial, hosted by U.S. Energy Secretary Stephen Chu.

Applied Materials #1 Supplier in PV Manufacturing

Great news for the Applied Materials PV business as research firm VLSI named it the top supplier to the PV manufacturing industry for the second straight year.  The report also provided an industry outlook for 2010 and noted, "VLSI Research’s analysis reveals that Applied Materials consolidated their position in 2009 with organic growth and revenue gain from their existing products."
