Applied Materials opened its newly expanded manufacturing center in Tainan, Taiwan today. The opening festivities included Mike Splinter, chairman and CEO of Applied Materials, along with the Taiwanese Premier D.Y. Wu, Dr. L.C. Lee, Minister of Taiwan’s National Science Council, Tainan County Mayor H.J. Su and S.C. Lin, Vice Minister of Taiwan Economic Affairs. The facility, which encompasses nearly 15,000 square meters, enhances Applied’s ability to serve both flat panel display and thin film solar photovoltaic (PV) customers.
