Sure, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a craze that is taking over social media. And, yes, it has been a tremendous fundraiser for the ALS Association as the organization combats Lou Gehrig’s disease through research, services and education. But can the challenge serve an even broader purpose?
Applied Materials Chairman Mike Splinter accepted the challenge and used the icy dousing to recognize Applied employees for their contributions to the local community – through employee giving programs, the company’s annual Food Drive, and the upcoming Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot.
Using the Challenge to reiterate Applied’s commitment to making a positive social contribution, Mike was surprised by a bucket of more than ice. Check it out!
