The Government of India hosted the Delhi International Renewable Energy Conference (DIREC) 2010 recently on the theme of "Up-scaling and Mainstreaming Renewables for Energy Security, Climate Change and Economic Development". The show was the most significant event on renewable energy ever held in India, attracted more than 9,000 delegates and had more than 250 speakers and 600 exhibitors from 50 countries – including ministerial delegations from several countries.
Last week, I participated in the North American PV Fab Managers Forum, part of the Intersolar North America conference in San Francisco. One of the hot topics was the role of China in the photovoltaic (PV) industry. Asia in general and China in particular have come to be a major presence on the PV manufacturing scene.
Great news for the Applied Materials PV business as research firm VLSI named it the top supplier to the PV manufacturing industry for the second straight year.
The report also provided an industry outlook for 2010 and noted, "VLSI Research’s analysis reveals that Applied Materials consolidated their position in 2009 with organic growth and revenue gain from their existing products."
