Our recent Open Innovation Workshop brought together quantum technology leaders from across the ecosystem to identify key challenges in quantum information systems and explore opportunities for collaboration. The central theme that emerged from the day is that quantum is about so much more than computing; there are many applications in areas like sensing, metrology and communications encryption on the near-term horizon.

Cisco Systems estimates there will be 50 billion connected devices by 2020—creating a tidal wave of data! Wearable Computing or “wearables” is a small but rapidly growing segment within the IoT space and is one of the potential killer applications that could fuel IoT.

Dr. Omkaram (Om) Nalamasu was promoted to chief technology officer (CTO) and will provide critical insight to further enhance Applied’s technology leadership in the industries it serves.Prior to this promotion, Dr. Nalamasu was deputy CTO and general manager, Advanced Technologies group. He has extensive experience in fostering innovation at global corporations, research universities and world-class R&D laboratories.
