2015 Humanitarian Awardees Named
John and Tashia Morgridge named recipients of the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award in recognition of their visionary philanthropic commitment.
Congratulations to John and Tashia Morgridge on being named the recipients of the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award in recognition of their visionary philanthropic commitment to address some the world’s greatest challenges.
John, as former president and CEO of Cisco Systems and now chairman emeritus, and Tashia, a teacher and education advocate, have pledged to give away the majority of their wealth during their lifetime to causes of personal importance including education, conservation and medical research.
In announcing the honor, Gary Dickerson, president and CEO of Applied noted the couple’s work to “expand educational opportunities in underserved communities is helping to increase living standards and combat poverty.” In addition, the Morgridges are benefactors of programs that promote public service, serve low income families and promote environmental sustainability.
The Global Humanitarian Award, to be presented at the Tech Awards in San Jose, California in November, is named in honor of Jim Morgan, former CEO and Chairman Emeritus of Applied Materials. Past recipients include Ted Turner, Queen Rania Al Abdulla of Jordan, and U.S. Vice President Al Gore.
Thank you, John and Tashia Morgridge, for inspiring the philanthropist in all of us!
