Applied’s Display Technology to Receive 2013 IEEE Corporate Innovation Award
I’m delighted to share that Applied Materials is being recognized by the renowned engineering authority IEEE with the 2013 Corporate Innovation Award for the company’s leadership in innovative plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition technology for flat panel display manufacturing.
As a leading supplier of manufacturing equipment to the flat panel display industry, Applied has been instrumental in enabling the cost reduction of flat screen TVs to fall by more than 95% over the past decade. Leveraging its more than 45 years of expertise in semiconductor manufacturing to develop breakthrough processes for fabricating TFT-LCDs for notebook computers, desktop monitors and TVs, Applied has greatly accelerated the growth of the flat panel display industry for more than 20 years through process technology, environmentally friendly cleaning technologies, scaling of equipment and innovative manufacturing practices around the world.
Having worked in the industry for 20 years, 18 of them here within the Display group at Applied, I have witnessed first-hand the dynamic advances that have taken place in display technologies and have literally improved the way people live by helping to make possible more powerful, portable and affordable chips and flat panel displays for consumers around the world. Applied is honored to receive this recognition from an organization such as IEEE and celebrate this milestone with employees and customers that helped make these innovations possible.
